Barack as a role model

I was listening to one of my favorite commentators the other day, Dan Carlin, and he was relating a story about how his daughter asked how come there aren't any woman presidents.  He always makes really great points and reminds me how unoriginal I am.  When he pointed out that black kids might have the same kind of questions about why no black people are president, it reminded me of several of the schools I went to where is was more than just unnecessary for black kids amongst their peers to do well in school, their peers actually looked DOWN on them for doing well.  There was peer pressure to NOT do well in school.  Hopefully Dan is right, and Barack Obama will prove to those kids that they are wrong about not wanting to be educated.  And hopefully it won't take long, because my kids will be going to school with them soon.
