Can't lose weight?

Working out lik  de crazy?  Dieting like a mofo?  Drinking mostly water?  Still not losing weight?   I know a few people trying to lose weight right now; my favorite, of course, is the mother of my children, Leeanne.  Some of the more common mistakes my friends make are...

1) Not eating enough.  I'm not sure who came up with the 1200 calorie diet, but holy crap, that's almost nothing.  I swear, I SPIT 1200 calories.  It'll work for you if you lay in bed all day watching TV, but don't get out of bed to go to the bathroom, or you'll burn some calories.  Really, I think that we underestimate how many calories we burn just going about our daily lives, so don't aim for 1200 unless you REALLY know what you're doing, because your body will hit starvation mode pretty quickly and start canabalizing muscle while storing fat.  I've seen several people (some at my suggestion) eat MORE and start to lose weight.

2) Not enough rest.  Sleep at night is VERY important, and so is rest between workouts.  Workout too often and your body can't cope with the stresses that take place and chemicals that get made.  Before you know it, your weight loss will stall

3) Intensity intensity intensity!!!  Spend three hours in the gym if you want to, but if you can wear yourself out in less than an hour, you'll do just as much good.  Unless you're an Olympic or Professional athlete, odds are pretty good that you can't even handle three hours of solid workout.  Even on tv's Biggest Loser I think the workouts are right about 2 hours and they don't have normal lives to lead except to workout and lose weight for tv ratings.  Get in, hit it hard, get out, and enjoy life!
