Easier than exercise?

I was at work today, still thinking about the diet pills I saw online last night and I was talking about them.  It turns out several of my co-workers are taking different supplements to try and stay healthy.  There are a few other guys actually working out, but not too many people doing both.  It seems to be a difference in schools of thought.  What surprises me most is how much they understand about weight control and health.

I used to be bombarded by people who thought you could buy health in a bottle, and that the drugs inside would turn us all into superathletes with little to no effort.  Now, it's a lot more realistic, what I run into.

I'm the kinda guy who has always said that exercise and moderate diet awareness are the best way to maintain your weight and be healthy.  Today, I heard a different point of view.  It seems that being just 10% overweight, which is only the difference between 160 lbs and 175lbs could seriously increase your risk for various diseases, especially if you have any genetic propensity.  If diet pills will help you drop that weight, then maybe it could be BETTER than exercise since some people have trouble losing weight.

Now, my disclaimer here is that I still believe a fit heavier person would be overall healthier than an unfit skinny purpose, but I got her point.  Especially considering that not everyone can knock off an appropriate amount of exercise to maintain a healthy weight.
