Holy unhappy crap!!!

I came across this picture of this unhealthy, unhappy-looking animal a while ago.  The other night at the gym, I cranked the treadmill up to 8 mph and the incline about 2/3 as high as it would go.  After just a few minutes, I was heaving and panting and I SWEAR that extra 15 pounds I'm carrying has to be all on my lungs, no lie.  I really could feel all kinds of extra stuff keeping my lungs from moving like they should.  It's no wonder I can't work out as hard as I used to.

Then I started thinking about this poor dog.  She hasn't got the desire to be slim and trim, I'm sure.  She has no idea what's happening to her heart or arteries.  She doesn't know that she's going to die 40 years too soon (dog years, that is).  So what do you do?  I mean, obviously, her owner isn't slim and trim either, because there is no way a skinny person would be seen in public with a fat dog.  Exercise is probably right out, and proper diet would probably be the same as starvation.  My aunt's dog wouldn't eat regular food for more than a week after being taken off table food, and she finally gave in and fed the dog tasty people food.

Maybe Orovo could help.  I just feel bad for these dogs being so heavy.  I know what it's like to 25% heavier than I should be, and it's not comfortable at all.  I have no idea how exceptionally large people can make it through their day, and these poor animals don't have any clue.

Maybe there could be a Biggest Loser Dogs show.  Put them on good diets, run them on a treadmill, take them to Vegas.  They could vote each other off with the customary rump-sniff.  We'd still need the owner on for the drama.  Wow, what a stupid idea.
