A step in the right direction
While I am still a bit pissy about the way the stimulus bill was passed and signed, the whitehouse has established a website called www.recovery.gov. Supposedly, we can check back in on this site from time to time to see how our tax dollars are being spent.
While I appreciate the effort and understand that not very many administrations in the past would have taken such a step, I also and quite skeptical that it will contain the information that most of us will want to see. For example, I would expect to see that such and such a company was awarded a contract worth x dollars, but I wouldn't expect to see that y dollars of it was paid as a bonus to the guy that put the bid together. In other words, I don't think it's likely we'll see the $10,000 toilet seat itemized.
Perhaps I'll be wrong though?
