Looks like birds can use tools, too. Enter, the New Caledonian crow. It uses this technique to trick a grub into biting the stick, which is what it does to defend itself from intruders. But much like a racoon with a shiny trinket, it doesn't think to let go, so the crow pulls it out of a tree and eats it.
