Wikileaks is at it again.  This time with more accurate numbers about casualties in Iraq.  I want to know who is surprised that our government seems to have been underreporting the number of dead and wounded civilians.  Really.  What pisses me off is that they constantly lie about it.  Instead of just standing up on the TV, in front of the whole damned world, and saying, "War is violent, war is not fair, war is evil, but this is just how it is," they have to minimize how shitty it really gets.  With real information, maybe more people would be motivated to stand up AGAINST war except in the most dire of circumstances.  Maybe fewer people would be willing to advocate war because of how devastating it is. 

I'm not a tree-hugging hippie, so don't get me wrong.  If our NATION supports a war, and we understand that sometimes really awful things are going to happen that are unavoidable, that are mistakes, or that are random isolated misactions by a few, then the military, a spokesperson, or the president himself standing up and explaining what happened and what they did to address it would be respectable and expectable.  Instead, everything is kept a secret, and more secrets to cover up those secrets.  No wonder they are pissed about the leak.  It's because AMERICANS are pissed about the leak.  IRAQIS are pissed about the leak.  The whole goddamned world is pissed about the leak.  Just a touch more transparency, and the leak wouldn't have been news.  Hell, the leak wouldn't have been a leak.

Don't get pissed at wikileaks, get pissed at the government.
